About 16 months ago:
I buy a bike off a friend.
I think about using it to commute to work.

Yesterday:
I drive 9.5 miles to work. It takes 25 minutes.
I heard Gary Radnich and Tony Bruno talk about the benefits of biking to work.
I signed my last paycheck over to Chevron for 13 gallons of gas.

Today:
I bike 12 miles to work. It takes approximately 5 hours.

I had been talking about driving less and biking more for about a year. Now I realize why I kept putting off biking and kept on driving. Even the slightest uphill kills me. I'm already dreading tonight when I have to scale Mt. Whitney to get back home. That last half mile is worth the $4.62/gallon.
