I haven't written anything lately because most of my time has been taken up by work, sleep, and a hockey video game. Last round of roller skating tomorrow and I am actually looking forward to it. Not only because it is the third and final week I am going roller skating, but because the younger kids have been more fun to be with lately. I want to get better at skating so I can play hockey. At my current skilling skill level, I can play backup goalie.
Our executive directors at work have called a mandatory prayer meeting on Monday morning for the entire staff. I don't like this only because it's at 9:00am and my typical workday doesn't start until 12:30pm (sounds great, but I stay at work until almost 9:00pm but get paid like I leave at 4:30pm). We've never had one of these mandatory prayer meetings announced so suddenly before. In fact, we've never had a mandatory prayer meeting. The notice that came with the announcement said we would be praying about donations and expenses, since we ended up about $108,000 in the red for the month of January. (Guess I won't tell them about the new decked out Hummer complete with 3 tv's, video game hookups, and 20 inch rims I charged to the youth account.) What concerns me more is also included on the prayer list were staff reductions and benefits/program changes. I don't think I'm getting fired, but neither did Steve Mariucci. They're probably going to tell us that we will have to pay more for our health plan or something. At our last general meeting, we were told that the cost to us would remain the same even though the premiums went up. I guess that's some of the problems a non-profit will face when we expand. Pray for the Bay Area Rescue Mission and our ministry in the city of Richmond.
