Over the weekend, I had my annual fantasy baseball auction draft. Our league actually has 7 pages of rules and guideines for this year. So it was only fitting that our draft took just about 7 hours to complete.
I only have a few rules I like to follow when selecting my team:
- Don't draft too many players from Arizona or LA. Two reasons for this: First, they are division rivals of the Giants, and I do not like to see my fantasy players play against my home team 19 times a year. Secondly, most of their players suck. This year, I only have one: Dave Roberts.
- Always get a guy named Pedro. I always want to have Pedro Martinez on my team, but he plays in the AL. In the past, I have settled for Pedro Astacio, but I think he broke his shoulder or something. Enter my second favorite Giants' player: Pedro Feliz.
My team's success this year will be based solely on one player: Placido Polanco. He's the highest paid player on my roster not named Barry or Billy. I will be reading baseball box scores for the next six months. I think I have been eliminated in all my basketball and hockey leagues.
