Yesterday was SUPER TUESDAY, and for the first time in my life, I actually went to a polling place to vote. I had voted with absentee ballots a few times before, and I had voted many times for the MLB's All-Star Game, so voting wasn't anything new to me.
There were only two issues that I really cared about. (Political races can wait until November.)
1.) Contra Costa County Measure L. I voted no on this one, simply because I like Wal-Mart and I would love it if they would make use of all that open space here in our county. All that's out there now is a few cows munching on grass. L, like the Balrog in the Mines of Moria, did not pass.
2.) Regional Measure 2. I voted no on this one because I do not want to pay a freakin $3 toll to cross bridges in the Bay Area. Unfortunately, while all the people who actually drive on these bridges were stuck in traffic (possibily caused by supporters of measure 2 as part of their plan), all the voters taking BART and buses were able to get to polling stations to vote this one in their favor. State Senator Don Peralta, a Democrat from Oakland, is now on my persona-non-grata list for writing this bill.
Unlike the MLB All-Star balloting, I was able to vote just once. If Trot Nixon is one of the AL's starting outfielders, you'll know who to thank for that.
