The road to the Blogger.com Bowl continues....

shattering your 3-iron while hitting a 180 yard approach shot: priceless
I wake up in the middle of the night to go play golf in near freezing conditions (the fairways had patches of ice). On the 4th hole, I am in the middle of the fairway, about 190 yards out, so I reach for my trusty Cleveland 3-iron. I make my swing and I hear a loud crack. The ball takes off going toward the flag, but I also see the head of my club flying off to my left. It lands about 25 yards away near one of my partners. I was simultaneously amazed by my strength and upset at my broken club.
The strange thing is this is the SECOND time I have broken a 3-iron. My first set of Wilson clubs, which I believe is now in Howard's possession, is missing a 3-iron. The clubhead had been vaporized by one of my mighty swings while playing at Harding Park. (It was broken in a similiar fashion as my Cleveland club, but the clubhead was never found by the search party, therefore it was determined that the force of my swing had vaporized the clubhead.)
This puts me at a serious disadvantage for the official CBC Thanksgiving Golf Tournament to be held on Friday. I usually hit my 3-iron at least 10 times over the course of 18 holes. Of course, I probably will be at a disadvantage already from competing in the official CBC Turkey Day Bowl on Thursday, where the brave men from my church participate in a skull-cracking-and-limb-breaking event known as tackle football. If I survive football and golf, I hope to participate in the unofficial CBC Poker Challenge. What a fun church I have.
