While we were in Tahoe over this past weekend, we went to a buffet at Harrah's. It cost a lot more than a Jack-in-the-Box value meal, but it was slightly better tasting. It was just a lot of meat. I was kind of sick, so I didn't eat too much, but I did have some bacon-wrapped filet mignon, which was pretty good.

Now I thought if a piece of meat with one piece of bacon wrapped around the edge was pretty good, how much better would a piece of meat completely wrapped in bacon be? And so another cooking adventure began. I went to Albertson's and got a few pieces of beef chuck steaks, a pack of bacon and some toothpicks. I cut each of the steaks in half and wrapped each with 3 or 4 pieces of bacon, using the toothpicks to keep the bacon in place. Put the meat combo in the oven at about 350 degrees for about 16 minutes. Best tasting steak I ever made, and I have made a lot of steaks.

I should have my own show on the Food Network. Buttermilk pancakes (check out my 8/28/2003 post) and bacon-covered steaks would be my specialities. Still working on having my own Comedy Central special. My Tahoe show went okay. I didn't bring my A game because there was no room in my bag. (There was so little room I couldn't even bring my floss.) I, like the 49ers this weekend, only brought my B- game. Still met some cool people and had a lot of fun.

Additional Tahoe note: I know who Luis Pujols is. Do you?
