I judged a book by its cover today. I was at Borders using a gift card I had recieved as my Discover Platinum Card Cashback Bonus.
The first book I got was Chicken Soup for the NASCAR Soul. I bought this book just because it had the NASCAR logo on it. If NASCAR made toilets, I would get one for the bathroom. It sure would make for quicker pit stops. Ha ha.
I was going to get a second book and had it narrowed down to two choices, both books by Max Lucado. Choice number one was Six Hours One Friday. Choice number two was some other book whose title I forgot, but it had some clouds on it. Choice number two didn't matter, as my eyes were fixated upon the holographic cover of choice number one. The image may not show it well, but the shiny reflective cover is very pretty.
Therefore the cover of a book is very important to me. In fact, there were several textbooks I bought in college simply so I could stare at the cover.
Just for the record, a sample of the books on my shelf: (all with cool covers of course)
- Clear and Present Danger, Rainbow Six, The Sum of All Fears and about 6 other Tom Clancy books
- God Came Near, The Applause of Heaven, and 2 or 3 other Max Lucado books
- Many sports books, including WWF: Wrestlemania The Official Insider's Story (comes with DVD showing match footage - I also have the Rock's book).
- The complete works collection of Edgar Allan Poe and William Shakespeare
Feel free to borrow any of my books.
