We were experiencing technical difficulties. We now return to our regularly scheduled program.
Big Labor Day Weekend Report
Tri-Star Collectors Show:
This was where I went to trade my green pieces of paper with dead presidents on them for pieces of cardboard with old baseball players on them. Collecting baseball (and other sports) cards has become a very expensive business. Some dealers were making sales for a single card (Jordan/Kobe dual auto) for over a thousand dollars! It was crazy. I did not spend a thousand dolars. I picked up a bunch of McCovey cards for my collection.
Despite the large amounts of people there, it was not a female-rich environment. I wonder why there aren't more women hanging around with guys who would spend a thousand bucks for a card with a basketball player's autograph. I guess it's one of those great mysteries I may never solve. There was one good looking black chick and one hot asian chick out of the 2000 people there. However, the black lady was with her big black boyfriend and the asian girl was puffing on a cigarette, meaning I stayed away from both of them.
Fantasy Football Draft:
Our church league held our annual fantasy football draft over the weekend (note: also not a female-rich environment). We have 14 teams in our league, with each team picking 15 players. There were some players picked that I did not even know about. The best part of doing a live draft is when you draft a guy that you know the guy picking next wanted to have. The second best part is when you draft another team's star player's backup with the hopes of that star player getting hurt and your guy taking over. My fantasy season will depend on a Sharpie salesman, a guy named Bubba, and Rhonde Barber's twin brother.
The Norman Lau Tour Labor Day Tournament:
Another holiday means another golf tournament. The site was Shoreline Links in Mountain View. I played like Tiger Woods' mom's best friend's sister's uncle. I brought my B- game, but still managed to tie Norman for the raw score title with an awesome score of 116. I got bit by so many mosquitos that I may have malaria. Are itchy red bumps a symptom of malaria?
Since I am mentioning female-rich environments, how come I never see any young single women playing on the golf courses I go to? The LPGA is loaded with 20-something-year-old female golfers. Where do they play or practice? Why can't I ever get paired with one of them instead of some 62 year-old man who hits the ball 85 yards off the tee?
